Ups and downs of business and marketing networks

Ups and downs of business and marketing networks

The last few days have been beautiful, the weather is almost perfect, some are suffering from the heat of spring, others are suffering from pollen levels. This time of year reminds us that summer is coming and network conditions are slowing down. I would like to take a moment to discuss this trend and the cause I think.

Let's start in autumn. This time of year, we are aware that things will be slow during the holidays, so we are working hard to win new businesses. As December approaches, some people are worried about parties, shopping, etc., and they will not pay attention to building a business. Others find it increasingly difficult to get in touch as people begin their long vacations.

Then the holidays pass. We're in full swing in our marketing and networking efforts, attending meetings several times a week and trying to get things back on track. The result is more business and higher profits. Have you ever noticed that things started to improve significantly in early February? When that happens, unless we're ready to grow, we're having a hard time completing the work created by our marketing efforts, so we start jumping into promotions.

In fact, we drop in on the net. We lose contact with the people who made us and requested referrals, and they begin to feel that we are no longer interested in them. When that happens, they may be looking for someone to refer to when their target prospects arrive. From early summer to midsummer, we get out of work and start looking for opportunities again. Unfortunately, when the children graduated from school in the summer, the holidays began again. As a result, finding contacts that were just before the business recovered at the end of last winter is once again very difficult.

In mid-August, the school is back in operation and people are back in the world of networking. Of course, some are the same people who were there before, but there are also many new faces. We relaxed our promotional activities so when they started a new business we weren't there to welcome a new face. Therefore, people with a balanced network and marketing strategy are there to receive it.

These are people who have businesses that look like they are growing. They have a consistent marketing and networking plan throughout the year. When many companies experience a flood of new businesses in the spring, these business owners are ready to absorb the new business with new employees or temporary assistance. They recognize that sustaining growth means preparing for an economic recovery that can take the business to the next level.

So how can this be achieved? First growth plan. Keep your system ready for when you have more business to handle, and there is help you can call. It is managed by building relationships with temporary agencies, headhunters, and placement companies. Hire people by contract as needed. When things get a little slower, it saves money on allowances and wages. It also reduces the amount of paperwork in terms of salary and tax processing.

Then create a network plan that is easy to manage. Set a goal for the number of meetings you will attend when your business is good and stick to it when your business improves. Participate in performances throughout the year, even during the holiday season.

We plan vacations as needed, but summer doesn't mean that everyone will be on vacation. Most people need to schedule each other, and the entire company usually does not take vacations at the same time. In large companies, staff can always do business while employees are on vacation. Also, keep in mind that large companies don't stop advertising just because it's July or December. They are consistent all year round.

The lesson here is, if you want to be a great company, see what a great company is doing. If they succeed, you may be able to emulate them and duplicate their success. To ensure a consistent business throughout the year, you need to constantly market, network, and promote. It's going well, so if you want to relax now, you'll have twice as much effort in the fall. On the other hand, if you keep trading as consistently as you did late, you should be able to experience the growth of both your business and your bank account throughout the year.
